This is a total plug for his website service and class. Basically he wrote the book so you have to pay around one hundred dollars to get his membership service. What a joke. So many better books then this one for math shortcuts that actually teach you how to improve your mental math instead of selling you on this services!
Wish I had this book when I was in school. It's full of creative and sometimes counter-intuitive ways of doing math that's of huge practical use for everyone in daily life. A lot of people don't like math but we all need to do it and this book makes it easy to do. It's written in plain language that you don't have to be a math major to understand. Using the strategies and tricks you can improve your math skills in terms of practical applications very quickly. Highly recommended!
I have been out of school for many years and I hate being completely dependent on a calculator. This book teaches you some simple tricks that are easy and effective. I followed the directions and my calculating skills increased almost immediately, and I didn’t have to use my fingers and toes. Admittedly, this wasn’t the way I was taught math calculations in school – but it works – and I’m not in school anymore. Highly recommended
I recommend this book to anyone who wishes to be a little sharper when it comes to math in everyday situations. Personally, I was always pretty good at math in school and I remember things always seemed to "click" pretty quickly. I have a BBA and have been out of school for a while and am embarrassed to say that I totally forgot how to do long multiplication and division problems by hand - that's why I initially downloaded this book. After reading Mental Math, I think I'm actually a bit faster than I was when I was doing math everyday in school. The book teaches you some simple tricks that are easy to get the hang of. And yes, there are math problems I can now do in my head faster than I can do them when having to push the buttons on a calculator and it did not take that much effort honestly. Great purchase.
Not for my brain. In addition, for instance, a set of three rows of 4 digits added to one row of 5 digits takes me only 5 steps using the old way (vertical format). Using the new and improved way as demonstrated by the author, it takes me 11 steps; more time, and a headache to boot, because the new method requires a horizontal format; adding from left to right; slashing numbers here and there; deleting 10 if the answer is 11 or more and tnen... All I've got to recommend is for those wanting to become a human calculator, is to download a free sample of the book and hope that it includes chapter 2. It contains explanations of the new way or doing math.
The tricks and examples in the book are very useful for ewconfirming the answers. I would recommend this book to people who struggle with mathematics.I usually do not use calculator as my mathematic skills are good. However, tricks in this book will help me further expedite my calculation skills.In short, it is a great book to improve few basic mathematical skills.
Wow! Math is never been a thing for me but i think with this book and what i've learned here. i can actually like Math. great job on the explaining the different types of math problems. it took me a while since i'm not a math person myself. But i think with more practice and using of your book. i could actually learn something lol great all around. :)
I liked the way author started with his own story of his struggle with the maths... the book covers how to win your anxiety over math superbly...the methods explained in the book were quite new to me...the concepts are explained well with detailed examples..this book will help my kids too to learn the innovative ways to understand maths.. well written book..
