Different way of approaching Rumspringa, showing the father's side / fears. Of his daughter Ruth approaching it, and going to an aunt for ashort visit. A true partnership, of where he expresses this to his wife , and she grounds him. By saying Let Go, and Let God. The true valuesof Ruth's faith, family, have been deeply in grained in her. She is wanting to take her vows with the church. I was glad the story covered her Visit with the aunt and meeting the English renter. For though the. outside appearance of him, she wanted to know him more. She learned what wasthe true value is what is underneath. This was not acceptable to here, and her upbringing. Once again reminding her of her faith, and love of family. As, did her Dad learn, by Letting Go and Letting God this will only increase. For the love that will be extended by her marrying and children., he gains, and not losing her.A great book, of values,, and family. Looking forward to the next part.
Short books -- often I like them quite a bit, if they're character-driven and hold an uplifting message. And complete in themselves, not a lead-in to a sequel that tells "the rest of the story." I'm not sure whether this book is complete in itself since it doesn't seem to resolve an emotional issue that the heroine, Ruth, struggles with. That is, falling "in fatuation" with an English doctor, someone outside of her faith and community. She actually doesn't get a chance to do that. I wish she had.I know the young man whom Ruth fell in love with was not of her faith, but he felt drawn to her simple way of life and faith. How that was resolved, too quickly and cowardly, didn't satisfy me.Still, I like the author's style -- simple, descriptive, faith-filled. I'm glad I got acquainted with her and her books.
Let Go and Let God is a prequel to God Has Plan for You, where we learn more about Ruth and God's plans. Its a clean Amish romance that shows us family values, personal choices and God's design for our lives.Ruth has entered her rumspringe time. She goes to stay with her Aunt Sadie. There she meets an Englisher who is a doctor. She becomes infatuated with him. He with her. He knows they are not right for one another. By the way he's a drunk.
I really enjoyed this book especially how the Englisher tricked Ruth into leaving him alone. I am waiting for sequels as I think tat Sandra Becker is a fine writer.
I'm not certain there are many young people who take this time to really find their faith and trim away from temptation as easily nor find parents as supportive. The world is too busy.
This is a very quick read, less than a hour. Samuel is worried about his daughter on the night before she goes to live with her aunt during her Rumspring. She is just 15 and he is worried she will be attracted to an Englischer. She does meet a young man and they are attracted to each other. Samuel finally prays and trusts in God. This was a free book and the review was my own.
Ms Becker did excellent job of covering the lives of the Amish people in this book. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in the Amish community. Very well written and hope to read other books by this author.
Young Ruth goes to visit an aunt as she begins her rumspringa. She is sure she wants to remain in the Amish community until she meets a young Englisher who is a doctor. This meeting causes doubts and more thought provoking than she expected. Her father is concerned Ruth will be leaving the family when his trust in God reminds him to let go and let God. This was downloaded onto my Kindle from Amazon and I would recommend it to young women.
