Although I have owned this book since it was first published, I decided to write a review now b/c I want to share with others how wonderful it is. I actually purchased 2 copies of this beautiful book, one for myself, and a second copy a few years later for one of my BFFs who also adores world textiles. My Mom also owns a copy, and all three of us love this book. The textiles are stunning and oftentimes rare...I have had the great fortune to travel to countries in Central Asia where Suzani textiles and beautiful carpets are made by artisans, as well as to India which produces amazing embellished and hand block printed textiles, and this book showcases examples of these wonderful creations and so many more. Best of all, it shows how people live with and display what are essentially accessible pieces of art. The warmth and vibrancy in the rooms that are shown comes from the use and layering of an amazing array of textiles from around the world. If you like the visual and tactile nature of textiles, whatever your budget, you will find the inspiration to create and display your own collection in this amazing book. While this book is not at all dated, with time it is now available for a very low price new, or used. I only wish I could think of someone else who would appreciate it so I could buy another copy! This book is highly, highly recommended by someone who has been perusing it for nearly 15 yrs. and counting...
