I love this book. Much like her other book, this one has whimsical artwork that is just captivating. The story is cute, but my favorite part is that the little girl has two dads, and it seemingly biracial. Neither of those things are a plot point, not focused on at all. And that’s the way it should be.
One of my very favorite children's books I've ever read. Such a cute story with great illustrations. It's about a little girl who gets carried away literally and figuratively while at the store trying to find the perfect party hats for her birthday. Will she make it back in time for the party? Did her dads notice she is gone?Luckily there are some animal friends to help her out. Plus who doesn't want to wear costumes all the time?You should also check out Jessie Sima's first book Not Quite NarwhalI'm a big fan of these first two books and can't wait to see more from her.
Super cute story. I love that all the characters are kind to each other and the story is based around an adventure instead of a conflict. It is a really sweet story.
My kids are too old for me to read this to, but I don't tire of reading it over and over on my own. It is so funny and there is so much to look at in the illustrations. Harriet is a spirited and lovable protagonist.
This book is cute and well-written with a great theme about being yourself. Also a ton of penguins for kids who love penguins and an example of same-sex parents who are just they’re as a natural part of the story.
I'm an elementary school librarian with two small children of my own. I've read this book with preschoolers up to 2nd graders, and they've all loved it! The illustrations are brilliant and the word play is fun ~ not to mention the diverse family is such a wonderful addition!
Really wonderful and funny book with beautiful illustrations. My kids love Not Quite Narwhal, a book by the same author, which we highly recommend.
since we loved not quite narwhal, we thought we would love this book too. The art work was lackluster on the page. and for young readers, did not want to introduce the 2 dads story line.
